World Economics and its effects on Sports Sponsorships - 18 Nov 2008

johnson.jpgTo highlight the effect that the current world economic crisis is having on Sports Industry, the pharmaceutical giant and highly reputable corporation, Johnson & Johnson, has just announced (via Yahoo Sports) that is not renewing its Olympic sponsorship at the end of 2008 in order to “enable us to focus on other business priorities”.

No other Sporting event in the world has had as much commercial success as the Olympic Games and this shows just how serious things are evolving as this is the fourth (Top level) partner to end their support this year.

Undoubtedly, things will evolve quickly when the new US Administration is inaugurated and the EU and Oceania Economic initiatives unfold but until then, we’re probably going to see more of these announcements.

END Footwear: It’s a time of action, not words - 04 Nov 2008

end-footwear.jpgWe heard about END Footwear and decided to take a closer look because their mantra caught our eyes; “END is not just another shoe company; we are not bound by the old rules. We are a culture of like-minded individuals striding towards a common goal. With one eye on lessening our impact and one eye on the trails of life, together we are the next wave of change.”

Looks like the guy’s at END share a lot of things with us at Laneo; our passion for the Outdoors, wanting to do things differently and making a substantial positive environmental impact. Their 4 R’s (as they call it) is spot on and their name signifies; ” a line in the sand that the old way of doing things must change.”

Great stuff ! Finally someone who’s set out to make world-class footwear whose environmental impact is lessened and lessened every season.

END Footwear has gotten some great reviews and they’re present all over the web (You Tube, Flickr, Facebook & Twitter) and if you live near them (Portland, Oregon) you’ll probably find them on the trails too !

We hope to get our hands on some of their shoes soon so as to not only, lessen the impact on our mother earth but also take them for a test drive on Europe’s Trails and tell you how they hold up.

They’re Take a moment and check them out here > http://www.endfootwear.com/
