Very good idea. But, I agree with the fact that it must not generate new carbon emissions.
Why not using the logistics of already existing recycling initiatives.
For example, in France (I am french), there are many recycling facilities in all medium or big size cities. There are containers for clothes (including shoes, as far as I know). Perhaps that there could be also specific containers for shoes or it could be interesting to contact the recycling facilities to get the shoes appart.</description>
